I Was Cured All Right

I can not figure out fundamentalist republicans. They pretend to be the “party of morality” yet they are overjoyed when a soft-core porn model who can almost single-handedly keep 30 million Americans from getting health care is elected to the Senate. It seems to me that supporting soft-core porn and fighting against the poor just to defeat the “scary” President who most of them believe was appointed to the office by their god would make Jesus angry.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure there are plenty of Obama’s policy issues that normal Republicans and Democrats can have issues with, and I have issues with several of them. But when your political belief system is based entirely on your interpretations of the teachings in the bible that you agree with, you can’t blather on about how you think Jesus wouldn’t want homosexuals to have equal rights and that abortion providers should be killed in one breath, then pretend that the bible doesn’t say anything about helping the poor and less fortunate in the other.

Keep in mind that if you believe the way you do just because you hate the poor that scores of people who aren’t poor loose their insurance then can’t get new insurance because of a pre-existing condition. If all you care about is abortion you should ask yourself how many poor and/or uninsured mothers miscarry or have to have an abortion because their lack of insurance kept them from getting quality health care.
